E-counselling Safety
Any information shared on the internet is never 100% secure but I promise to:
- Use up-to-date anti-virus software and firewalls
- Password protect all documents, communication and information you provide
- Adhere to all recent GDPR guidance by keeping your information safe and confidential
Here are a few measures that you can take to maximise your safety:
- You can choose a space where you are unlikely to be interrupted e.g. the library, a private room in your home, via your smart phone in a quiet cafe with no onlookers
- Check that your computer is also up-to-date with antivirus software
- Always use passwords, particularly if you use a shared computer or tablet
- Keep your passwords private, particularly ones used for your emails
- When you finish your counselling emails, always log out
- Make a habit of using Private Browsing each time you email. It is okay to delete your browser history but doing this regularly on a shared device might encourage curiosity of other people using it
- When printing emails, make sure they are stored in a private (and ideally locked) space
